Daniel Defense’s first entry into the bolt-action arena is the Delta 5. It’s a rifle that can handle a number of tasks, and it’s modular, as the hammer-forged barrel can be replaced by the user without any headspacing work. So, shooters will eventually be able to switch out barrels and calibers as soon as Daniel Defense begins offering those support options.
The stainless steel action is a proprietary design that offers a 60-degree throw and uses a floating bolt head with three lugs. The mini chassis has pillars sandwiched between the action and bottom metal for its own mechanical bedding. The ergonomic carbon-fiber-reinforced stock is fully adjustable for cheek height and length of pull.

In testing, our rifle was accurate, reliable and easy to reload, and the trigger received high marks. But the rifle is still a tad expensive for what’s currently included, and the action was somewhat stiff. It’ll be interesting to see what Daniel Defense offers in the future for this system.
