Coming in at the opposite end of the H-S Precision is Cadex’s brand-new Seven S.T.A.R.S. rifle. It’s literally the Ferrari of this group and not only due to the speed red color of its chassis. The Cadex is polarizing. When you see it, you can’t look away. You are compelled to get closer and visually dive into the plethora of details it possesses. The lines and angles are mesmerizing, and fit and finish are second to none in this batch of rifles or otherwise. Cadex’s design and machining capabilities are on full display in this rifle.
The stock folds and features endless adjustability that is made simpler by well-designed levers. It makes you wonder why others don’t do it that way. But as pretty as this Canadian girl is, she’s not without flaws, and they showed up during our testing. Will the technology and design of the Cadex be enough to win?

If one rifle will stop you dead in your tracks, the Cadex CDX-SS is the one. The red paint and racy, futuristic looks definitely catch the eye and send the message that this rifle is all business. The Cadex may need its own category—sports rifle.
There’s a lot to say about the Cadex but space is limited. It’s built for speed with all the adjustability you could want, literally at your fingertips. The best folding stock we may have ever experienced resides on this sports rifle—with solid secure lock up. Every detail is right with meticulous machining. The trigger is excellent, even for a two stage model. Modularity is high on the Cadex with room for weights and more weights, bipods, bag riders and anything else you might want on there. The only thing it lacks is a quick-change barrel.
As badass as the Cadex is, we found the very low riding thumb rests to be a liability. They don’t make sense where they are, and you must force yourself to utilize them, as it doesn’t come naturally. Also, the action wasn’t smooth like you’d expect. In fact, it bound up more frequently than it should and far more than anticipated. Accuracy was good overall, but I think we all expect this Ferrari to make us look and feel like instant champs. It did not.
