Beretta is another company that has turned a pistol of exceptional quality with the APX A1 Full Size. In my opinion, it’s the best stock striker-fired duty pistol currently being produced. To get to that level, the APX A1 also underwent a few design changes to set it apart from the original APX. Gone are the Toblerone slide serrations in favor of sleeker, sexier and still aggressive serrations that provide plenty of texture for easy slide manipulation.
Other modifications were made to the grip frame to remove the finger grooves and to provide more relief under the grip tang for a higher purchase on the pistol. The trigger was also improved to provide a slightly lighter and even crisper release. And while we’re on the trigger, it should be noted that the APX A1 FS incorporates a trigger chassis that acts as the serialized firearm. That means it can be swapped out in and out of different sized frames.

The APX A1 FS includes all of the features most would want in a modern fighting pistol including a Picatinny rail and an optics cut in the slide as standard equipment. For those who like irons, the pistol wears a blacked out and serrated rear sight with a tritium sight up front that integrates a white outline. Beyond that, there is a reversible mag release and an ambidextrous slide stop to satisfy the southpaws in the audience. From a top-tier manufacturer like Beretta, it’s both surprising and impressive that the APX A1 FS has all of the mentioned features for an MSRP of only $529.
