Fink’s Custom Guns (FCG) has just released their Gunsite Performance Pistol-Double Stack, a 1911 hybrid featuring a carbon steel frame for the slide to ride on and a polymer grip that accepts 17 + 1, 9mm magazines. The GPPDS possesses all of the traits that make the 1911 pistol relevant after 100 years as well as some brand-new cutting-edge features.
The most notable innovation of the GPPDS is the .30” port cut into the barrel and slide, an inch back from the muzzle. Called the Mega Port, it effectively reduces muzzle lift without adding to the gun’s overall length. It doesn’t affect the barrel’s lock-up or ballistics and the gun retains its superior accuracy.

FCG cuts the GPPDS slide for a Holosun HS507 optic, installed and sighted, as well as a Patridge style, suppressor height front sight. The Holosun’s mounting plate possesses an integral rear sight.
Built from the ground up as a concealed carry gun FCG removes all of the sharp edges and bobs the beavertail grip safety. Additionally, the polymer grip frame is undercut where the trigger guard meets the front strap and is textured for a secure firing grip.
Besides its near-perfect slide to frame fit the GPPDS also has an insanely crisp trigger. Our test sample registered at 2.75 pounds and its overtravel is tuned to perfection. It also has a firm reset and that makes shooting the GPPDS rapidly effortless.
I tested the GPPDS at 25-yards for accuracy and was impressed with the tiny groups it turned in. Using a mix of 9mm range and defense ammo, of various weights, my aggregate group size for seven different loads was just 1.29”!
But what really got my attention was just how flat the gun shoots. FCG’s Mega Port drives the gun down before the bullet even leaves the barrel and my splits, or time between shots, were some of my fastest ever!
Fink’s Custom Guns Gunsite Performance Pistol-DS is wonderfully crafted and possesses a number of truly innovative features designed to keep Ol’ Slabsides relevant in a striker-fired world!
