Glocks have always been the Toyota Corollas of the gun world: reliable and durable, but rarely thrilling. With the Gen 6, however, Glock has finally stopped ignoring the aftermarket. They took everything Glock fans were sticking on their guns and just gave it to you from the factory. The Gen 6 seems more user-driven than any other Glock generation.
The biggest win is the ergonomics. The Glock 17 no longer feels like it has the ergonomics of a brick. We get a new aggressive RTF6 texture and a factory undercut trigger guard. Combined with an extended beavertail and a new flat-faced trigger, the Glock knuckle and slide bite of yesteryear are gone. They even added integrated gas pedal thumb rests for superior recoil control.

The optics system also got a much-needed overhaul. Scrapping the old plate-on-plate stack, the Gen 6 now mounts optics directly to the slide but uses polymer plates that act more as space fillers beneath the optic. The optic sits lower and is more secure.
At the range, this thing handles so much better than previous Glock generations. I was pulling 2.3-second Bill Drills and clearing plate racks at 25 yards with ease. It’s remarkably flat-shooting and quite accurate. While the plastic sights still suck and the slide release is dinky, the Gen 6 is the closest Glock has ever actually come to Perfection.
