The SAR K12 Sport is a highly competent competition pistol at an exceptionally low price point. The K12 Sport features aluminum grip slabs and an aluminum mag well. Both the front and backstraps of the K12 Sport wear medium checkering for a solid purchase on the grip. A full ensemble of generously sized controls on the K12 Sport offer confident engagement without being overly obtrusive. The K12 Sport showcases serrations for glare mitigation and blacked out sights, with the rear sight being adjustable. At a weight of 46.9 ounces, the K12 Sport soaks up most of the recoil for a very pleasant shooting experience. The K12 Sport’s trigger broke at just 3.6 pounds, allowing the shooter to stay on target during the pull.
The biggest surprise of the day for the full-size pistols was the new SAR K12 Sport. Tagged with an MSRP of only $812, the K12 Sport definitely under-promised and over-delivered. Both the slide and frame are crafted from stainless steel for a unified appearance, and the grip slabs are fashioned from aluminum. A finish you say? We don’t need no stinking finish! The K12 is beautiful as it sits, an exemplar of industrial design and minimalist aesthetics.

At half the price of the other pure-bred competition guns in this section, the SAR K12 Sport is quite the find. At the range we found that its performance well exceeded its price point. If you’re looking to dip your toe in the competition waters with your next pistol purchase rather than doing a full-on cannonball splash, the K12 Sport should be at the very top of your list for consideration.
