Sig Sauer also enjoys a strong fan base, due in large part to its P320 series of polymer-framed pistols. In addition to gaining massive respect for recently winning its military contracts, the company has been impressing shooters with its new X-Series of pistols.
The X-Series includes an updated grip module with a relief cut behind the triggerguard, which dramatically changes the feel of the P320. It also incorporates a flat-faced trigger, which many shooters swear by—and I think I’ve been won over as well. To top it off, the X-Series also sports a pre-milled slide for installing a ROMEO1PRO reflex sight, for example, as well as the company’s superb X-RAY3 front sight.

The new P320 XFive Legion ($899) carries those features into Sig Sauer’s premier lineup by marrying them with an industry-first tungsten-infused TXG frame. The addition of tungsten to the mix adds almost a full pound of heft compared to the standard X-Series P320. This, along with the removable mag well and the adjustable Dawson Precision fiber-optic sights, makes the P320 XFive Legion a superb choice for competition shooting.
The Sig Sauer P320 XFive Legion felt amazing in the hand thanks to its ergonomics. The controls were easy to access and operate. The fiber-optic front sight was a boon, and the slide is quite stylish with its lightening cuts. On top of that, the gun was light on recoil and seemed quite a value for competition. However, the trigger felt a little funky while shooting, and the reset was too long. The last few rounds were also hard to load in the magazines.
