Introduced by Smith & Wesson at the 2025 SHOT Show, the Model 10 (10-15) has a distinctive “retro” look. Although the action is the latest design, features like the tapered barrel, half-moon front sight, fixed notch rear sight, mushroom-head ejector rod, and cylinder release latch, harken back to the .38 Hand Ejector Model 1905 3rd and 4th Change that dated from 1909-1940. It also has the Magna-type stocks, but these are smooth, high-grade walnut made by Tyler Gun Works, and have no checkering or Smith & Wesson medallions, reminiscent of the Victory Model revolvers of WWII. Marketed as the Military & police (M&P) it was a favorite with the armed forces and law enforcement. In 1957 it was given the designation Model 10.
The new Classic has a frame mounted firing pin instead of one riveted to the hammer nose like the old types. It is also missing the internal security lock that has been a feature on most Smith & Wesson revolvers since 2001. Like its older siblings, the new Model 10 Classic has a deep blue finish, color case-hardened hammer and trigger, plus the wood to metal and metal to metal fit is first rate.
