SDS Imports put in the time and effort with Turkish pistol maker Tisas to develop a whole line of very well made M1911 platforms that appeal to American consumers for their quality construction and performance which seem impossible for their comparatively low price. I don’t know anyone who offers more 1911 for your dollar. Military buffs were delighted by the addition of a close replica of the U.S. Military’s famous and long enduring M1911A1 service pistol which they call the 1911A1 US ARMY “Armed Services Family” retailing for under $500.
While not a perfect replica, it captures the essential elements of the World War Two contract production pistols made in numbers exceeding 1.2 million by Remington-Rand, Ithaca, and Union Switch & Signal. The main features are its smaller ejection port, unbeveled magazine well, brown plastic grips, military style sights, trigger and hammer, lanyard loop, parkerized finish and its sparse markings.

Like all of the Tisas built 1911s in the SDS Arms line, this one has a forged steel frame and slide, internal parts milled from steel billets (no MIM parts), is compatible with Colt Series 70 components, and proved reliable and accurate in testing. I found it shot better than most genuine military M1911A1 pistols I’ve shot and showed better overall metal surface finishing than my real World War Two Remington-Rand which is considered one of the best made. I won’t be shooting my original gun anymore. Now you can channel the spirit of the American G.I. on the range without breaking the bank.
