The Wilson Combat AR9 comes from the factory without sights, although they are available as an accessory. This pistol is available in two barrel lengths—8 and 11.3 inches—and it can be built to use either Glock, Beretta or Wilson Combat EDC X9 magazines. The test model has a very nice, gray-based Armor-Tuf Urban Camo finish that does a nice job of breaking up the gun’s outline.

The reloading ease test started with a loaded magazine in the shooter’s belt and the gun empty with the chamber locked open. At the buzzer the shooter pulled a full magazine out of his belt, inserted it in the gun, closed the bolt and fired five aimed shots in 10 seconds. The .3-point deduction was again assessed for every full second over 10. The Wilson Combat AR9 was the winner of this test.

The tactical accuracy test involved a two-part scenario drill. The drill requires the shooters to visualize the following scenario. Your spouse and child have been working on the garden in front of the house when an unknown man steps on the lawn from the sidewalk, yells nonsensical curses and threatens them with a handgun. They duck behind a car in the driveway and the man begins shooting at the car. You have removed your gun from its safe location, quickly assessed the situation from cover by the front door and have shouted, “Drop your gun!!” The assailant has turned toward you and points the gun in your direction. At this point in the scenario the buzzer sounds and you have five seconds to fire two aimed shots into the target’s center chest. The second part of the drill involves the same scenario, except that it is a failure to stop drill. In this part, you have eight seconds to fire two aimed shots into the upper center chest and one aimed shot into the head or vital areas of the neck above the assailant’s body armor. Again, the .3-point penalty is applied to shots fired beyond the allotted time limit for each part of the drill. The Wilson Combat AR9 won this test as well.
