Nightforce Optics released the NX8 during the second quarter of 2019, and it was evident from the jump that it was going to be a success. Where do I even begin? The glass is incredibly clear. The view is mesmerizing thanks to an eye box that provides full edge-to-edge clarity. The ZeroStop turrets inspire confidence, and the parallax can be corrected down to 11 yards. I also found the fit and finish to be top notch, as with all Nightforce scopes, but Brandon didn’t agree, giving the NX8 a “4” in this category.

What sealed the deal for me was that, aside from the 30mm tube, I couldn’t tell any difference between the NX8 and the tough but pricey ATACR line, yet the NX8 only costs $2,150. It even undergoes the same impact testing as Nightforce’s ATACR and NXS scopes.Nightforce quality is hard to deny, and even in this smaller, lighter package, you still know you’ve got a real Nightforce optic. And you’re not giving up anything because it still has an illuminated reticle with color choices, and it’s only 13.5 inches in length. It’s hard to fault the NX8 in any way. With all this in mind, it was easy to crown the Nightforce 4-32x50mm NX8 Ballistic’s Best for 2019.

In the NX8 line, my absolute favorite is the little 1-8. For hunting out of a tree stand, I've found no scope that's even in the same league. And honestly, the FC-MOA reticle is absolutely fantastic. I currently have the little NX8 mounted on a .300 Blackout, a 30-06 and my old Marlin 444S. Glass is fantastic, I have no issue with the eyebox, but I don't shoot fast competition and hear that some have issues. Highly recommend this optic for timber hunting!!!

Very sturdy construction overall. Burris’ ‘5X zoom system’ adds a nice touch.

Great fit and finish with one of the best elevation turrets in the business.

Significant magnification despite extremely compact dimensions. It’s no wonder elite military units field EOTech products.
