Let’s just put it out there. Accuracy International is now offering a proper, competition-ready rifle called the AT-X. There’s no more need to adapt your AX or AT to competition work because this rifle has it all. Our trigger snob, Kevin, stated, “There isn’t anything on the AI that isn’t substantial.”

Utilizing the same robust, flawless, six-lug, 60-degree throw action that is in the AIAX/AT line, AI has designed a new competition chassis that allows the barreled action to sit extremely low, creating incredible stability and manners under recoil. Make no mistake, AI will always do it right and they have, with high quality looks and feel throughout the rifle.

The AT-X gets their two-stage competition trigger, which is amazing, and the stock is fully adjustable in the rear section for LOP, height, cant and side angle. This may be where things get tricky for the AI as it’s not as easy to adjust some points as it was on their AX since small bolts are being used as opposed to larger knobs. But those knobs came with their own challenges.

The AT-X is very modular, a new category we added this year, and can accept weight kits inside and out, making it a beast of a rifle in the stability realm. I should also note that external weights are attached via Key Slot, which is an AI exclusive and it’s much easier to utilize than M-Lok. That being the case, Key Slot has a disadvantage you don’t realize until you have all the weights attached to the AT-X.

We all found the value proposition of the AI to be quite high. With a price under $5K, you’re getting real AI goodness—this reality is significant.
