The next batter up was the CMMG Banshee Mk4 SBR. Having my own FFL and SOT allowed us to get in a couple of SBRs for the testing. At 10.5 inches, the Banshee is the shortest SBR CMMG offers in 5.56mm. Fellow evaluator and writer Karen Hunter noted: “This would be a great backpack or vehicle rifle. It’s sleek, lightweight and very easy to maneuver—solid shooter as well.” This turned out to be a very enjoyable rifle to run. The lower receiver group will work with any standard AR-15-pattern upper group as well as all of CMMG’s conversion magazines. Being an SBR it had a bit of bark when we ran it but nothing unexpected. The gun was tight and handled well. Like Karen, I believe this would make a solid go-bag or truck gun.
