No side-by-side testing would be complete without a gun from FN. The rifle we chose from them this year was the FN 15 DMR3. This is a designated marksman rifle that has received several notable upgrades to enhance accuracy and curb felt recoil, including a new 18-inch barrel, SureFire ProComp muzzle brake and Geissele two-stage trigger. On the bench, we got solid 0.75-inch groups at 100 yards. Part of the accuracy was based on the trigger. The two-stage precision G2S trigger allowed for great trigger control with the first stage trigger pull ranging from 4.25 to 4.75 pounds and the second stage ranging from 2.75 to 3 pounds. FN worked hard on this gun and didn’t cut any corners. They used FN’s custom furniture including an ergonomic pistol grip, six-position collapsible carbine stock, and 30-round magazine, along with Radian Raptor-LT ambidextrous charging handle and Radian Talon ambidextrous safety selector. The gun has features and performance far beyond what its price may indicate.
