Our next contender is a new kid on the block, the NS15 from North Star Arms. Based in Phoenix, Arizona, North Star Arms is the AR division of the well-known minigun manufacturer Profense. Because of that connection they have a state-of-the-art facility and a team with decades of experience. The NS15 is their first offering and it performed well. For a rifle that retails at $1,099 it produced a solid performance. On this gun we ran the Primary Arms SLX 1.5×24 FFP, which was a good fit. On the bench we punched a 1-inch group with ease. That gave it some extra points as it performed beyond our standard of 1.5 inches. Other things that stood out was the lack of rattle, which is all too common in guns in this price range. They have used furniture from Hogue, including their enhanced triggerguard. The barrel is also an upgrade in my opinion. North Star uses a QPQ-coated HBAR barrel from the well-respected team at Ballistic Advantage. They also use an ALG Defense trigger, which certainly helped when we were testing for accuracy. They may be new to the AR world, but the experienced team at North Star has made a solid blaster for a first offering.
