For the first time since the venerable Model 99 lever-action rifle was dropped from production in 1997, Savage has brought out a new lever-gun. Touted as, “Not Your Grandpa’s Savage,” the new Revel Classic is chambered in .22 Long Rifle and later in 2025 it will be available in .17 HMR and .22WMR. It combines the classic look of blue steel and walnut with a streamlined and contoured receiver and stock. It’s carbine length (36.5-in.) and light weight (6.1 Lbs.) will make it handy in the field or at the range. A notable feature is its easy takedown into upper and lower assemblies using two push-pins. Beneath the 18-in. barrel is a tubular magazine with a 12-round capacity. Its rear sight is step-adjustable and it has a post-type front sight. For a lever-gun, it has a remarkable trigger pull, and its over-sized lever accommodates gloved hands. The aluminum receiver cover is drilled and tapped for optics. All these features are in a rifle with an MSRP of $439.00.
