The Fix On Faxon

The essence of this category are guns in the “easily affordable” arena. All these guns, however, performed well and, in many cases, would give higher priced guns a run for their money. With that being said, let’s get a look at the competitors. First up is the Faxon Sentry 16 5.56 Modern Sporting Rifle. Faxon has been a mainstay in firearms accessories for years. They have also made a solid name for themselves with their complete rifles, and the Sentry 16 5.56 is a good example of that. The Sentry is feature rich and comes from the factory with many out-of-the-box upgrades, including an ambidextrous charging handle and safety selector, Hiperfire EDTDM trigger and upgraded furniture. We ran this rifle using the Tract 1-8 optic and we got a solid 1-inch group for accuracy. The operation of this rifle was a pleasure as Faxon included a 45-degree ambidextrous 45/90-degree safety selector and a Radian Raptor LT charging handle. It was finished out with Magpul MOE furniture and a 15-inch M-LOK aluminum handguard. The gun performed well above its price of $1,149 at pretty much every turn. Coming in at only 6.1 pounds empty, it was light and fast. The rifle scored well but lacked any sights, which hurt it a bit. The folks at Faxon are centered around building good products, and the Sentry 16 5.56 is a good reflection of that.
