Ultimately, the Beretta 1301 was the hands-down winner. It was also the most expensive, but we had to look hard to find anything that wasn’t nearly perfect on the gun. Light recoil. Incredibly fast cycling. Reliable with any ammo. Oversize charging handle, safety and bolt release. Non-finger pinching lift gate. Ready for a sling and M-Lok for a light. Oversized, beveled, loading port. High-capacity magazine tube. Ghost-ring sights and comes with a Picatinny rail. If you asked four hardcore shotgun shooters to name every bell and whistle they would want on a tactical shotgun, this one has them all. It is ready to go right out of the box with zero excuses for anything. But perfection comes at a price—in this case, about $1,500. Buy once, cry once. Your great-grandkids will still be running shells through this thing in 75 years and talking about how they don’t make them like this anymore…unless of course Beretta is still making them. Then they will be talking about how $1,500 seems like a steal for a shotgun.

Best semi-auto shotgun I've used
I'm a big fan of the 1301, though I grabbed the 1st generation. It runs like a top with everything except for some reason the Hornady Versa-Tite. As always you should test any ammo you intend to use with your firearm before relying on it, but I absolutely love this shotgun and have it fully fitted with Aridus Industries accessories for a better stock, handguard, and sights/optics as well as a shell carrier.
Best semi-auto shotgun on the market
I absolutely love the 1301, though my sample is a Gen1 it's easily the best semi-auto shotgun I've used. So far the only ammo it has had an issue with is Hornady Versa-Tite, but you should always test whatever ammo you intend to use before trusting it anyway.
