CZ fields a number of models of the 712, and this one is the Utility. To me, it was less a tactical gun and more of an all-around, do-everything shotgun. If you only had one shotgun for shooting birds, hunting deer, breaking sporting clays and using it for home defense, this would be it. It has a bead front sight that lends itself to hunting birds more than shooting slugs, but a bead does work well for moving targets. Its capacity is only 4+1, and there is no way to add a red-dot sight to the receiver. But it shoots well. It fits nicely in your hands. While it lacks a lot of bells and whistles, there is a lot less to go wrong when you keep the design simple. If I wanted a strictly tactical gun, I would want a way to mount a white light and put a magazine tube extension on for higher capacity. However, if I could only own one shotgun for all jobs, this would definitely be at the top of the list.
