I’ll admit my bias upfront: I love short,pistol-grip-only 12-gauge firearms. The IWI Mafteah is a 12-gauge, pistol-grip-only (PGO) firearm that skips the NFA paperwork while delivering absolute authority.
At 27.75 inches and under six pounds, this isn’t just another PGO firearm. It’s the first PGO to utilize an inertia system. IWI mastered ergonomics with the Mafteah. The massive M-LOK handguard includes a tension-adjustable strap that makes recoil mitigation feel natural. Even with full-power buckshot, I was hammering three targets in under two seconds.

The means to mount optics stands out. Beyond a standard rail, the receiver is cut for Glock MOS plates. This allows for users to pick from a ton of different red dots and plates for the Mafteah. Add in an ambidextrous charging handle and a massive bolt release, and you have a sub-compact beast that handles like a dream.
It can be picky with light trap loads (under 1200 FPS), but feed it duty rounds and it’s flawless. “Mafteah” means key, and this is officially my key to range-day happiness.
