Titanium suppressors are many hunters’ go-to because they cut out unnecessary weight, especially for hunters who traverse tens of miles on a multi-day hunt. I was glad to see IWI release a niche-market silencer designed explicitly for hunters. The IWS7TI silencer weighs just 13 ounces and measures 7.4 inches long. It uses a Grade 5 and Grade 9 titanium baffle system to suppress the sound. Because the cost of titanium is higher than that of stainless steel, the MSRP of the titanium silencer is the highest of the IWI collection. That said, it is an excellent solution for hunters to hunt suppressed without adding even a pound to their pack out.
I shot this silencer on the same gun I mounted the IWS7 on to compare them. The titanium had a little more recoil impulse and was slightly louder to my ear than the stainless-steel version. The limitation of this silencer is that it has a restriction of a minimum barrel length of 20 inches for magnum calibers. It is also not full-auto rated. The titanium silencer heats up much more quickly than the IWI silencers made of nickel alloy and stainless steel. This is why this silencer is better suited for hunting, especially when you might only fire one or two rounds in total.
