IWI also provided another interesting and very impressive pistol to evaluate and that’s the new Jericho Enhanced. It’s one that’s flying under the radar and deserves much more attention. Working from the original Jericho blueprint, the Jericho Enhanced is another pistol that’s received a refresh including a redesigned hammer, a new trigger profile and a new thumb safety.

The polymer frame is also new and it includes a Picatinny accessory rail while doing away with the finger grooves. Additionally, the frame now includes interchangeable backstraps for a more personal fit. Utilizing the CZ 75 short-recoil system, the Jericho Enhanced incorporates CZ’s inverted rail system to reduce the mass on top and to lower the slide profile for better recoil recovery.

Similar to the CZ 75, the Jericho is a hammer-fired, DA/SA pistol that offers a long trigger pull (like a revolver) or it can be carried cocked and locked similar to a 1911. The safety and the slide stop are fairly large controls that can be engaged somewhat easily with gloved hands, though they do protrude quite a bit. On top, the slide wears a set of fairly low-profile Novak sights, and there are substantial front and rear cocking serrations available. However, the inverted slide design makes them a little tricky to grasp effectively.

Despite the pistol’s overall size and capacity, the weight is nice and well-balanced, and the grip is very comfortable and provides an easy reach to the trigger. The double-action trigger pull is relatively light for a stock pistol and the trigger throw is very smooth and consistent until the break. With its cold-hammer-forged barrel and very clean fit and finish, the Jericho Enhanced exudes a lot of quality for its relatively low MSRP of $559.
