Canik USA is also no stranger to the concept of incredible value mated with stellar performance. The new SFx Rival is a prime example of what the company has been doing the past few years. Designed for competition with the budget in mind, the SFx Rival is available with a Tungsten finish and gold accents or with an all-black look which the company calls the Dark Side.

When you get down to it, the SFx Rival pretty much has it all when it comes to features and accessories. The Rival includes gnarly (in a good way) slide serrations at the front and rear as well as lightening cuts in the slide to help reduce the reciprocating mass up top. The sight package includes a fine, fiber-optic sight up front and an adjustable sight at the rear that’s part of the cover plate that hides the slide cut for mounting an optic.

For the human interface area, the SFx Rival features a 90-degree, diamond-cut and flat-faced trigger that is one of the best on the market, “rivaled” only by Walther’s Dynamic Performance Trigger. To tailor the fit of the Rival to the shooter, Canik includes three different heights of extensions for the reversible mag release as well as three different sizes of backstraps. The texturing around the grip is subtle but very effective, and the double-undercut triggerguard provides additional room and comfort for extended shooting.

Part of the Rival’s appeal is the full suite of accessories including the removable magazine well, four metal adapter plates (five for the Dark Side), two 18-round magazines, a holster, a cleaning kit and a tool kit for mounting the mag well and adapter plates. On top of already expected amenities like an ambi slide stop, Picatinny rail and excellent ergos, what the buyer gets for an MSRP of just $680 is pretty amazing.
