This is my first exposure to a Staccato product, and I have to say I am favorably impressed! I received this sample of the Staccato C2 pistol—a higher-capacity 9mm gun designed for concealed carry. This pistol features a 3.9-inch stainless steel, fully supported barrel and it is also equipped with extended ambidextrous thumb safeties, a beavertail grip safety and a skeletonized Commander hammer. It’s slide-to-frame fit is exemplary, and it also possesses a very clean, crisp 4-pound trigger with no overtravel and a firm reset. The grip frame features bark-like texturing for a secure grip, and the frame is undercut where the front strap meets the triggerguard for a high hold. Both the slide and the steel portion of the frame are given a DLC treatment to provide for a lifetime of long, hard use.

The Staccato C2 uses a 16-round magazine, and this gives the gun the most capacity of any of our eight test guns. Shooters have the option of ordering their gun with iron sights or optics ready for the use of a micro red-dot system. My test sample was equipped with a Holosun red-dot.

I test fired the C2 at a distance of 20 yards and it proved to be a tack-driver! Aggregate group size for the three ammunition types I tested the gun with was under 0.75 inches! The Staccato C2 is a shooting machine! The width of the C2 frame made it very comfortable to shoot with the high-energy defense loads. Featuring a polymer grip frame and a unique two-piece recoil spring system, this ingenious reimagining of John M. Browning’s most popular pistol design should last another 100 years. It won’t be every 1911 lover’s first choice. Most of us tend to love polished blued steel and walnut grips. But if you love the single-action 1911 trigger and love a mechanically perfect pistol capable of one-hole accuracy, the Staccato C2 may be what you’re looking for.
