The MAC 9 Double Stack Duty Comp pistol is, in my opinion, the best budget double-stack 1911 pistol on the market. From the ambidextrous controls to the integrated ported barrel, the value of this gun doesn’t match the price tag. The porting in the barrel takes all the muzzle rise out of the gun, allowing you to take follow-up shots as fast as you can see your sights. I shot sub-1-inch groups at 20 yards with four different types of ammunition, including 124-grain and 147-grain loads with various bullet profiles. The flared magwell is usually the first aftermarket accessory I must purchase for double-stack 1911s; yet, the MAC 9 already has it installed. It also uses the Agency Optic System (AOS) to mount various red dot optics while keeping your co-witness iron sights. The only modification I would think of making on this gun is lightening the trigger pull, specifically if I were using it in a competitive shooting sport. If I were in the market for a high-performance, yet budget-friendly double-stack 1911, this is the gun I would buy.
