Smith & Wesson has released yet another Performance Center Carry Comp model and this time it’s the 10mm version with a four-inch barrel. Designed more for concealed carry and to help mitigate muzzle rise, the latest Carry Comp model offers the blistering power of 10mm while significantly reducing muzzle flip for those faster follow-up shots. This was proven recently at the range where participants shot the Carry Comp and a standard four-inch M&P 2.0 in 10mm side by side.
With their eyes closed and not knowing which pistol they were shooting, the shooters were able to easily identify the Carry Comp model due to the difference in the recoil impulse and the reduced muzzle flip that was felt by each shooter. Better yet, that reduction in muzzle flip by the barrel’s PowerPort was achieved with very little loss in velocity. Velocity loss varied from 10 to 30 feet per second depending on the load.

The 10mm PC Carry Comp model offers the full suite of fighting-pistol features found on standard M&P 2.0 pistols including a Picatinny rail, reversible mag release, ambi slide stop, and an optics-ready slide. The RMR HD in the picture is not included. Upgrades over standard models include the Ameriglo Trooper sight package as well as enhance slide serrations for a more positive grip. Like other M&P 2.0 pistols, the Carry Comp’s accuracy was on par, the reliability was excellent, and the recoil was easier to control than ever thanks to the excellent grip texturing along with the PowerPort cut into the Carry Comp’s barrel and slide.
