The Rugged Surge762 is currently the suppressor I use on my bolt-action rifle to compete with in the Precision Rifle Series. I have truly put this suppressor to the ultimate test, and it has never failed me. While the Surge762 is no longer in production, Rugged made many upgrades to the suppressor and released the SurgeX. It is now lighter and compatible with industry-standard mounts and the R.U.M. from Rugged.
The short configuration is 5.6 inches and weighs 11.7 ounces. The longer configuration is 8.1 inches and weighs 16.2 ounces. The R.U.M. will add some weight and significant length to the suppressor. What’s most impressive about this suppressor is that it is belt-fed, rated with no barrel restrictions, and can be used on centerfire rifles up to .300 RUM. Currently, I have the older generation Surge762 mounted on a 6mm Creedmoor with a 24-inch barrel. I have shot that rifle out to 1,000 yards during competition, proving there is zero dispersion from this suppressor. When zeroing it, I made a minor tenth MIL adjustment to compensate for the point-of-impact shift. It is so quiet with the ammunition I use that a Range Officer at a match couldn’t tell if I was shooting out of the bus yet on one stage. The Surge also mitigates felt recoil and keeps muzzle rise minimal, so I can see whether my shot hits or where it misses off target. You might not love the price tag, but this suppressor performs and has exceeded my expectations.
