A mere quarter of a point away was the Wilson Combat Ranger in .300 HAM’R. The rifle offered a bit more recoil than the other 5.56mms, but it also came with a flash suppressor, not a muzzle brake. And the Ranger’s accuracy was absolutely astounding. Having tested three different .300 HAM’R rifles from Wilson Combat, I’d say they are precision-rifle accurate with every load offered. It’s not uncommon to stack five 125-grain Pro-Hunter or 110-grain Lehigh Defense Controlled Chaos rounds at 100 yards. Traveling up to 300-fps faster than the 300 Blackout while using the same 5.56mm magazines and bolt, the .300 HAM’R is a serious hunter capable of taking medium to large game out to 300 yards. And with the Ranger, Wilson’s fit and finish are excellent, the ergonomics are solid and the attention to detail is top notch.
