The SAR USA 109T is a semi-automatic version of the SAR USA 109T submachine gun. It looks very much like an AR and is very light. It comes from the factory without an arm brace, which gives its owner the opportunity to run it without an arm brace or with the brace of his or her choice. It has an 8.7-inch barrel and holds a maximum of 31 rounds with one round in the chamber.

The reliability test involved filling the magazines of the five firearms still being tested with a broad variety of ammunition from 10 selected loads. The Ruger PC Charger and the Century AP5 were not included in the live fire but were given one point for being reliable with ball ammunition during sight-in, even though they had been removed from live fire. The SAR USA 109T was also given only one point. It had good performance with the Black Hills load, but had multiple failures to feed during the reliability test. Clearly, the SAR USA 109T’s reliability with the Black Hills load was a matter of us simply having picked a JHP load with which the SAR USA gun worked well. The remaining four guns were fully reliable with whatever they were fed and they all received a score of five.
