When it comes to rugged, hard-knock lever guns, there’s a new kid in town and it’s the Henry Explorer Carbine. Featuring a Burnt Bronze Cerakote finish inspired by the American southwest, the little carbine is built to stand up to the elements and just about anything else you can throw at it. Depending on your needs, the Explorer Carbine is available in various calibers including .30-30, .45/70, .360 Buckhammer, .44 Magnum and .357 Magnum.
With its shorter 16.5-inch threaded barrel, the Explorer Carbine is quick and nimble to work with making it easy to keep with you on a trail or tucked away in the cab of your truck. The Explorer Carbine has a capacity of 7+1 rounds, and it has the ability to be loaded two ways. The user can load it from the top of the magazine tube or via the side gate for a quicky way to top off the carbine after firing it.

Featuring checkered walnut furniture and a semi-buckhorn sight package, the Explorer Carbine sports more traditional features despite its custom-shop appearance with the Cerakote finish. Reliability was solid with no feed hangups with all types of loads tried from hard-cast flat-nose ammo to hollowpoints and everything in between. Accuracy was even better with the carbine averaging under one inch at 50 yards with twelve five-shot groups fired with four different loads.
With the available Picatinny rail and your favorite red dot or variable-zoom scope, the Henry Explorer Carbine is the perfect utility rifle whether you’re working on the land or hitting a back woods trail.
